RIMITO
- RYMÄTTYLÄ There are good connections to the municipality of Rymättylä over the bridge at Särkänsalmi and the Ukko-Pekka bridge in Naantali. From the main island there is a new to Airismaa and a ferry connection onwards to Aaslaluoto. There are about 400 smaller islands in the municipality. Rymdttylä has a strong farming tradition and the village has been situated close to the Turku - Stockholm ship route since early times. Many families prominent in Finnish history lived in Rymattylä in the Middle Ages, among these was the Finnsh Bishop Mikael Agricola who in his time owned Maanpää House on Airismaa. The Christian faith brought western culture to Finland, and the oldest part of the St. Jacob's church in the middle of Rymättylä dates from the 1300's. There are guest boat harbours at Kirkkolahti and Röölä, and the ferry to the islands is also based in Röölä. Fishing goes on throughout the year: netting, trawling, and seine netting are the real Rymättylä. Seine netting in the winter is one of the year's highlights. Growing flowers and drying them is the newest occupation in Rymättylä. The freshness of farm products makes direct sales from the farm popular in Rymättylä.
